Most prescriptions are filled with manufactured medications. Sometimes those medications are not right for you. You might be allergic to a dye, have trouble swallowing tablets, or need a strength that is not manufactured. In those cases, your prescriber may write a prescription for a compounded medication, prepared specifically for you.
America First Pharmacies is an independent compounding pharmacy in Irving, Texas. Our pharmacists prepare each compounded medication from your prescriber's exact instructions. Every preparation is made here, by our team, for one patient at a time.
Compounded medications always require a prescription. If you think a compounded option may fit your needs, talk to your doctor. They can send the prescription directly to us, and our pharmacists will take it from there.

How It Works
Step 1: A Prescription From Your Provider
Every compounded medication starts with your prescriber. If they determine a commercially available product is not right for you, your doctor or nurse practitioner may write a prescription for a compounded preparation. They can call it in, fax it, or send it to us electronically.
Step 2: Formulated by Our Pharmacists
Our pharmacists at America First Pharmacies prepare your medication to your prescriber's exact specifications. That can mean adjusting a strength, removing a dye or filler, changing the dosage form, or adding a flavor. Each preparation is made for you and only you.
Step 3: Pickup or Delivery
When your medication is ready, we will let you know. Pick it up at our Irving location, or choose delivery for a fee. Either way, our pharmacists are available to answer your questions.
Why Compounding
Manufactured medications are made for the average patient. Compounding exists for everyone else. A child who needs a smaller dose. An adult who cannot swallow capsules. A patient with a sensitivity to a dye or preservative. When your prescriber determines a commercially available product is not right for you, a compounded medication, formulated for your specific needs, may be an option they consider.
